Jaguar XJR

“Eighty-Four Thousand, Five-Hundred and Thirty dollars.”  Go ahead, say it out loud. Most people will never get the chance to say that number out loud when someone asks you how much the car you are driving costs. If you get the chance to drive the 2006 Jaguar XJR, memorize it, because this is the #1 question you will be asked about the car. Don’t be shy about it, either. Confidently spew out the number like you just wrote the check, but be careful not to say it in such a way as to rub it in the inquisitive person’s nose.

Funny thing about a luxury car of this nature, no one asks about the 400 hp supercharged V8 under the slightly bulging hood. They neglect to inquire about the Brembo brakes attached to all four corners of this car, hiding behind the 20-inch Sepang wheels. Rarely will anyone ask if the 16-way heated front seats are comfortable, or if the electronic rear sunshade helps block the sun for the rear passengers.

Beyond the MSRP of one of the world’s finest luxury sedans, there sits a fantastic, almost sports-like, sedan. I say almost only because due to the level of pure luxury, and refinement, this car cannot compete with the likes of the M5, E55, or S8. Although the five second 0-60 runs are impressive for a car of this size, it lacks the pure sports car genes the others have. This is ok. Jaguar was not trying to compete with those cars. But merely add a slight hint of aggressiveness to its XJ line. This it has accomplished with flying colors.
